Friendship Kitchen in Cherkasy — preparation and distribution of Kazakh pilaf at a charity event

The “Kitchen of Friendship” in Cherkasy has launched as part of the international project “Yurta of Invincibility” — a joint Ukrainian-Kazakh initiative. The official launch took place on March 9 in the birthplace of Taras Shevchenko, the village of Moryntsi, with the participation of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Ukraine, Tolezhan Barbilaev.

The choice of date and location was not accidental. The figure of Taras Shevchenko symbolizes the historical connection and cultural unity between Ukraine and Kazakhstan. Kazakhstan is one of the few countries where Shevchenko is commemorated not only through monuments, but also through streets, museums, and memorial complexes that reflect the period of his exile there.

After the harshest winter in the history of independent Ukraine, the “Kitchen of Friendship,” together with volunteers from the Kazakh diaspora, is embarking on a tour of frontline and border regions. As part of this initiative, 15,000 portions of traditional Kazakh pilaf will be prepared for Ukrainians.

On March 10 and 11, the “Kitchen of Friendship” will operate in Cherkasy. The location is set in Yunost Park.

The final stop of the tour will be Kyiv on March 21, during Nauryz, one of the most important holidays in Kazakhstan, symbolizing renewal, unity, and the arrival of spring.
