On March 16, the team behind the “Kitchen of Friendship” initiative visited the resilient city of Trostianets in the Sumy region. Right in the heart of the city — which has endured significant hardship — a true celebration of unity and hospitality unfolded.
The highlight of the day was the preparation of authentic Kazakh plov, cooked according to a traditional recipe. Volunteers treated everyone who came, offering not only the main dish but also hot tea and traditional Kazakh baursaks. In total, more than 500 portions of food were prepared and distributed throughout the day.
“For us, this is more than just food. It’s a way to share warmth, support people during difficult times, and remind them that they are not alone,” the volunteers of the “Kitchen of Friendship” shared.
This large-scale initiative became possible thanks to strong partnerships. The project “Yurta of Invincibility” is led by Member of Parliament Serhii Nahorniak, who serves as its initiator and key driving force. Together with Kazakh philanthropists, including BI Group, they have joined efforts to systematically support Ukrainian communities.
The local authorities of Trostianets expressed sincere gratitude, emphasizing that such initiatives help residents feel part of a large and caring community.
Trostianets is just one stop along the journey of this meaningful initiative. Behind the team are thousands of grateful smiles and supported communities, while ahead lie new routes to frontline cities — where warmth and support are needed the most today.
